The role of plant protection is to implement all available legal, administrative, technical and logistical means to protect the health of plants and plant products, especially those of cultivated plants. To this end, the main actions carried out under the powers of the Plant Protection Department are as follows:
ensuring phytosanitary at borders and within the national territory;
Preparing and implementing legal or technical measures related to the health of plants and plant products and combating harmful elements in crops
Ensure phytosanitary control of crops and ensure good agricultural practices;
Providing technical assistance to farmers on the evolution of agricultural pests and giving advice for intervention and good agricultural practices;
Strengthening crop pest control methods;
Approval of chemical inputs and approved crop supports and control of facilities that manufacture, import, distribute and/or sell chemical inputs;
Providing secretariat services to the Agricultural Pesticides Committee;
Establishing and performing measures to combat locusts and rodents;
implementation of phytosanitary measures for forests;
control of pesticide application equipment destined for agricultural use;
Assessing risks, identifying risk and crisis management options and ensuring their implementation;
Participation in normative activities at the national and international levels;
